Associate Attorney
Attorney, Erica Alter, is an associate attorney in the Law Offices of Mark E. Alter.
Ms. Alter handles a wide range of cases from inception through trial. Ms. Alter is involved with all types of litigation handled by the firm including high profile and complex catastrophic personal injury, criminal, and civil litigation cases. She firmly prepares and investigates for each case as if they are going to trial. It is this level of dedication that has enabled Ms. Alter to successfully resolve already a large number of cases on behalf of the firm’s clients. The foundation of Ms. Alter’s success is her unwavering commitment to the needs of our clients and organization in handling each case. Every case is handled with the detailed attention it deserves and is supported by the full resources of the firm so that each client can rest assured that everything possible is being done to successfully and expeditiously resolve his or her case. Through these efforts, millions of dollars have been recovered on behalf of the firm’s clients and their families.
Ms. Alter earned her Juris Doctorate from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. Prior to graduating law school, Ms. Alter worked as a judicial intern for the Hon. Bruna L. DiBiase in the Queens Criminal Court and in Federal Court for the Hon. Arthur D. Spatt, Senior United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
Ms. Alter has been selected to the 2021, 2022, and the 2023 New York Rising Stars list. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor. The Rising Stars list is a distinction for attorneys who are 40 or younger or who have been in practice for 10 years or less. Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates, and peer reviews by practice area. The result is a credible, comprehensive, and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys.
In 2022, Ms. Alter was accepted into the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Established in 1993, the Million Dollar Advocates Forum is one of the most prestigious groups of trial lawyers in the United States. Membership is limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements. In order to qualify to be a member, attorneys must have acted as Principal Counsel in one or more cases which resulted in a final judgement, award, or settlement in favor of his or her client in the amount of one million dollars or more. Fewer than 1% of U.S. lawyers are members.
In addition to her responsibilities to our firm, Ms. Alter is the supervising attorney for our firm’s internship program. Ms. Alter has been a mentor attorney for many law students as well as students interested in the legal field. She is committed to providing her interns with as much experience as possible from attending Court, responding to discovery demands, and researching complex legal issues, to on scene case investigation.
