Attorney, Mark E. Alter, founding partner of the Law Offices of Mark E. Alter, has dedicated his career to representing clients with a wide range of legal matters since 1992.
Mark Alter practices in the areas of Criminal Defense, Personal Injury, Matrimonial, Family & Domestic Relations Law and Commercial Litigation where he has earned a reputation as an aggressive attorney who provides high-quality representation to his clients. Mark Alter’s experience as a former New York City Police Officer affords him valuable insight into the criminal justice system which gives him a substantial practical advantage in now defending clients charged with all types of criminal activity.
Upon graduating law school, Mr. Alter founded the Law Offices of Mark E. Alter where he has represented clients in numerous high-profile cases lending him to be recognized in the legal community as an aggressive and experienced advocate for his clients. He has and continues to handle some of the most serious major felony cases including Murder, Attempted murder, Robbery, Grand Larceny, Computer crimes, Sexual Assaults, Drug and Alcohol related offenses including offenses related to Driving While Intoxicated and Driving While Impaired by Drugs as well as Felony charges arising out of crimes associated with the operation of a motor vehicle and Juvenile Offenses.
Mark Alter is also a highly skilled Personal Injury attorney whose experience in complex injury cases such as Catastrophic injuries, spinal injuries, amputations, fractures, brain trauma, soft tissue injuries, and all other types of injuries along with his experience in dealings with insurance companies in obtaining multi-million dollar recoveries and settlements on behalf of his clients, has garnered him a reputation as being an aggressive attorney who gets his clients the results they deserve without the usual delay associated with Personal Injury cases.
Mark E. Alter earned his Juris Doctorate from the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center of Touro College and his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Saint John’s University. He is admitted to the practice of law in the State of New York and in the Federal Courts of the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is a member of the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Nassau County Bar Association, New York Trial Lawyers Association, “Million Dollar” Advocates Forum and New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. As a retired Police Officer he remains an active member of the Police Benevolent Association of the Police Department of the City of New York. Within the Nassau County Bar Association, Mr. Alter is a member of the Criminal Court & Procedures, Family Court Law & Procedures, District Court, Ethics, Matrimonial Law, Plaintiffs Round Table and Supreme Court Committees.
