Settlement amount-$900,000.00. April 18, 2013. The plaintiff sustained a concussion, fractured teeth face/nose-facial laceration, nose fracture and mental/psychological-anxiety mental/psychological-post-traumatic stress disorder. The female plaintiff, a police department dispatcher, marched in a parade that was conducted in the Rockaway Beach section of Queens. She was accompanied by her husband, a police officer. The couple were walking on Rockaway Beach Boulevard, near its intersection at 106th Street, when they were passed by a horse that was purportedly out of control. The female plaintiff was subsequently struck by another horse as its rider pursued the first horse. The plaintiff was knocked onto the ground, and she sustained injuries of her face and head. Her husband sustained residual emotional trauma. The parties negotiated a pretrial settlement where the various defendants agreed to pay proportionate shares of $589,000.00, $300,000.00, $10,000.00 and $1,000.00 for a total settlement of $900,000.00.
